Workforce Metric Reporting for CHRIS21

HRIT have now implemented their CPM Management Studio©   Workforce Metric Solution for a number of clients using the CHRIS21 Payroll and Human Resource Management System. In almost all cases, the client had got to a point where they had exhausted the reporting opportunities they could achieve through the standard features of the Payroll System and were looking for a more complete and comprehensive solution. There were a number of challenges for each, some more complex than others.

The Fletcher Building Holding Story

Fletcher Building Holdings Limited is a growing Global Company (NZ’s largest listed Company) with a collection of 30+ individual and unique entities with Two Payroll Shared Services – New Zealand and Australia and an expanding international presence in Europe and the US.

The significant challenge for Fletcher Building Holdings was that they had over 30 entities spread over multiple Payroll Systems, Servers and countries.  Fortunately most of their Australasian entities, which comprise a significant part of their business, used the CHRIS21 System.  Even though using a common Payroll system, there were over 20 instances of the system installed on Servers, one located in Auckland for all the New Zealand entities and one in Sydney for the Australian entities.

So an Internal Business case was prepared and HRIT was engaged as the solution partner. Next an initial prototype used for final presentation and a small project team established with key FB staff as the Project Owners. Datacom were then brought on as the infrastructure partner and a working beta system was delivered within 2 months. From there a progressive roll out to the entire Australasian entities was completed over the next 6 months.

The objectives of the project were

Following the success of the implementation and the high level of acceptance by all level of the business, a number of the business entities have begun implementing their own instance of the CPM Management Studio©   to provide more detail, right down to Accounting Details, focused on their more specific needs.  Even though having an individual instance of the Metric Reporting solution, it will still be retrieving its data directly from the CHRIS21 Database, as does the Group Metrics solution, ensuring all consistent results.

CHRIS21 over SQL

The CHRIS21 system has an option to use a SQL Server Database.  This is the preferred method being used by all CHRIS21 clients using CPM Management Studio©   except one.  The main reason for this is that CPM Management Studio©   can import data directly from the CHRIS21 SQL Database.  The imports can even be scheduled to happen requiring no user intervention.  This is conjunction with CPM Management Studio©   ability to schedule its Metric builds at predetermined times, effectively means the system runs itself.  This is the practice employed by C3 Limited where all Data Imports and Metric builds are scheduled, so all the business needs to do is use the system.
