Each Active EIS Report can have anything from a single Active Report to multiple Active Reports and Charts. On opening the initial 'Run' sheet is displayed which contains the Organisation Details along with the EIS Model Name and any runtime parameters used when the EIS Model was sent.

In the centre of this ‘Run’ sheet is a green button labelled ‘Generate EIS Reports & Charts’. By clicking on this image you will launch the 'self extraction' process. The reason for this is that the expanded Workbook is 3 to 4 times larger than the original Workbook. The 'Self Extraction' process can be run repeatedly. This may be useful when in the course of analysing the Active Report the resulting information has become nonsensical and a return to the original Active Report is required. This in turn makes the whole concept of using interactive reports user-friendly and extremely forgiving. |
The two styles of Active Reports generated are 'Report' views and 'Model' views. The 'Model' view differs from that of the 'Report' view in that it has a linked chart and does not have column or row totals. Both the 'Report' and the 'Model' views can be analysed in many ways through the use of the Data Elements. The Data Elements can be used for either filtering the information in the data section of the Report or changing the data being shown in the data section through 'Drag and Drop'. It is important to understand that with the ‘Model’, changes in the data being shown will be dynamically represented in the Chart.
This manner of Dymanic Reporting means that a single EIS Model may be manipulated to display many different views of the information. Changing the information reported by either 'filtering' or 'dragging and dropping' is instantaneous. Managers are in a position now where they can gain instant answers to their own unique operational questions without being hamstrung by standard reporting constraints.
